Family homes ZuidKade Scheveningen: seaside living in De Zuid

Commissioned by VORM and MRP Development, HOYT designed a series of family homes on the former Norfolk site in Scheveningen. These homes form the beating heart of ZuidKade, part of the De Zuid area development: a brand new neighbourhood by the sea, tucked right behind the dunes of Zuiderstrand and within walking distance of the Third Harbour and the historic city centre of The Hague.
Living between dune, harbour and city
New-build homes in Scheveningen are scarce, and a location like this one even more so. With the sea, beach, harbour and city all close at hand, ZuidKade combines the calm of the coast with the buzz of a Hague neighbourhood. That location was the starting point for the design of the family homes.
Architecture inspired by warehouses, fishermen's cottages and the beach
The homes are inspired by warehouses, fishermen's cottages and beach architecture, deliberately referencing the maritime character of this former harbour site. HOYT designed the pitched-roof home type, with a silhouette that draws directly on Scheveningen's shipping and fishing tradition. The second home type, with a flat roof, was designed by Broos de Bruijn Architecten. Together, the two types form a varied yet recognisable row of homes that defines the streetscape of De Zuid.
Fully customisable to your own wishes
What sets these family homes in The Hague apart is the flexibility offered to the buyer. Every home can be expanded from 2.5 to 4 storeys and freely arranged inside, so the layout grows with your wishes and budget. From compact and move-in ready to spacious and fully bespoke, the homes offer a fitting home by the sea for a wide range of buyers.
This first phase of family homes within ZuidKade was realised on commission of ASR Vastgoed, as part of the wider transformation of the former Norfolk site into one of the most sought-after new-build locations in The Hague.
