In the historic village of Durgerdam, just across the IJ and overlooking the open polder landscape, we designed this timber house for Ray and Franck. Built on the site of a former farmhouse, the new home subtly echoes the appearance of the old barns and stables that once stood here.
This is the third timber house we’ve designed for a photographer – a coincidence, but a delightful one. The ground floor features a photo studio, a tall open-plan kitchen oriented toward the view, and a cosy living room. Upstairs are a workspace and two spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.
